I was holding out hoping that Heather would find some wheels that she likes for her car but it hasn't happened and it is time to take the snow tires off the TL. Since we threw away the OE all-season tires when the snow tires went back on that means it's time for new tires. Yay. At first I was going to get something cheap like Conti DWS's. Since I'm hoping she'll find some 18" or 19" wheels by this time next year I didn't want to fork over a ton of dough for 17" tires this year just to turn around and do the same for 18" or 19" tires next year if she finds wheels. Not to mention I tossed the snow tires this year and will need to buy another set of those for her car come September.

Well, I just couldn't find it in me to put cheap tires on the TL. I've just been in the business for too long to do that. Fortunately I got a killer deal on these....235/45R17 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. What a freakin' nice tire. Rides smooth and quiet. Only needed a total of 2oz of weight between all 4 tires when balancing. Great dry traction too. Sidewalls are a little soft for a performance tire but that's perfect for her. She prefers a comfy ride compared to the jaw jarring ride of my car. Despite having somewhat soft sidewalls these tires have great responsiveness. They track perfectly. I haven't pushed them enough to lose grip at the limit because I'm letting them break in a little first.

I really couldn't pass them up though. I get them at cost. Add to that the current $70 mail-in rebate on a set of 4 Michelins and the fact that I get an additional 20% employee incentive rebate from Michelin...let's just say I didn't pay anything even remotely close to retail for them. I got them at a deep enough discount that if she only uses them for one season before swapping to bigger wheels I'll still be able to Craigslist them for more money than I paid for them.

To anybody that is looking for a peformance all-season tire with a nice comfortable ride, I can't stress enough how happy I am with this tire. Perfect tire for a luxury/sports sedan.

What makes the Conti DWS cheap? I heard they where a really good tire and a great value.
